Our Preschool actively supports children’s development in preparation for school by offering school readiness groups to support children with basic literacy and numeracy skills to actively encourage children to become lifelong learners.
The practitioners actively engage the children’s natural curiosity with the ‘Nature Detectives’ group, enabling the children to experiment, explore and experience the environment around them. The children benefit from the free flow approach, enabling them to make a meaningful connection with the outdoors, contributing to their emotional and physical development along with understating of the natural world and how this keeps us healthy.
Our large secure outdoor space is used as an extension to the indoor areas of the preschool and provides a whole host of learning opportunities for children. Each day the ‘outdoor classroom’ is set up to provide experiences of awe and wonder for the children. Children have the opportunity to help grow vegetables, build dens, dig for worm and other insects and plan what they would like outside, taking ownership over the gardens.
Whist attending the preschool the children are provided with a varied and nutritious rolling snack. Children can choose when they wish to have a snack, either from our fruit bowl options or join their friends for a social get together with a nice cup of milk.
Children who attend the preschool all day are required to bring along a pack lunch, which they all eat together at the end of the morning session.
The children often take part on our cooking club or the ‘Great Play Out Bake Off’, making their own tasty snacks and treats to bring home.
