Marshmallows toasting on an open fire

Lots of creativity, curiosity and focus were sparked during our campfire.

November 22, 2019

We witnessed some excellent role-play with the children deciding they wanted to create a camp fire in the garden. Amazing imaginations were used when they created a pretend fire gathering sticks and wood, and discussed toasting their marshmallows on the open fire.

So this week we had our very own camp fire in the nursery garden and the children loved it! The children learnt about fire safety and what we do when we are around a fire and how we have to act. ?

We spoke to the children about the risks around a fire and how they are managed, with the children really focusing and putting this into practice.

We have also found that sitting around a camp fire provides an opportunity for children to share much more freely than anywhere else.

After the marshmallows had been toasted, it was the children’s turn, they told us how we need to put the fire out and what to use!
